Advised Aquila Energy Efficiency Trust, a new London-listed investment trust investing in energy efficiency assets, on its London IPO to the Main Market.

Bestport Private Equity

Advised Bestport Private Equity on its investment in fast growing LED consultancy business Energy Saving Lighting (ESL). ESL designs, supplies, and installs LED solutions for the healthcare, local authority, education, and commercial sectors. ESL has grown more than 50% in each of the last two years on the back of positive market trends as the government and commercial markets become more focused on the environment and reducing carbon emissions.

EPC and MEES requirements 

Our Real Estate team regularly advises clients on EPC and MEES requirements for particular buildings and developments. As part of that, we address what EPC obligations exist and what needs to be done to comply with both the current MEES obligations and the future requirements (both enacted and expected) between now and 2030.

Advised a UK real estate fund on c.£50m sustainability linked loan

Advised on a sustainability-linked loan to refinance the acquisition costs of a warehouse property. The facility agreement integrated ESG targets, with a focus to increase Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings and maintain current BREEAM Excellent ratings.

Advised on a number of solar farm projects in the UK and internationally.

Lightsource

Advised the UK's largest solar PV developer on the development of commercial scale solar projects in the UK.

LOGOS

Advised LOGOS SE Asia (LOGOS) on its joint venture with European super utility to install rooftop solar panels for all LOGOS' Asia assets. 

Solar and battery farm

Advising a solar energy company on its dispute in relation to the operation of its connected battery storage developments.

Clean electricity transmission link

Acting for a contractor in relation to a dispute with its joint venture partner in respect of the design and construction of a clean electricity transmission link.

Windfarm Construction EPIC

Advised the EPIC contractor throughout the installation phase for one of Scotland’s largest windfarms.

Chinese conglomerate 

Advised on a joint venture with a Chinese conglomerate for servicing offshore wind farms in China.

ENGIE Fabricom

Advised on the contract for construction and delivery of plant and materials to Dong Energy for the Burbo Bank offshore wind project.

PGGM and Ampere

Advised on the acquisition of a stake in an offshore wind farm (367MW), including on all planning and regulatory aspects as well as the financial incentives.

EDF Renewables

Advised the sponsor of the Bicker Fen and Walkway wind farm projects in England. 

Czech Republic

Advised on the development and financing of the €1.1 billion wind farm development of wind farms in Eastern Europe. This is the largest onshore wind farm in Europe.

Dutch bank

Advised on the project financing of the acquisition and development of a portfolio of UK onshore wind projects.

Nordex 

Advised Nordex, one of the world's largest wind turbine manufacturers, with the review, negotiation and finalisation of a master transaction agreement pertaining to a wind project located in the South of India.

Asia Development Bank, the Indian Renewable Energy Agency and DZ Bank

Advised on two wind power projects run by Tata Power Company Limited.

Wind turbine manufacturer

Advised on contracts to integrate novel vertical-axis wind turbines into commercial and mixed-use developments.

Windfarm dispute

Acting for an engineering contractor in relation to a dispute arising out of the construction and operation of an offshore windfarm.

ICC offshore wind turbine arbitration

Represented vendor of subsea levelling tools for turbine foundation piling in claims for payment against main contractor of offshore wind farm.

North London Waste Authority

Advised on the North London Heat and Power energy recovery project, a £799m contract to build the largest energy from waste (EfW) project in Europe.

TIRU SA, part of the EDF Group

Advised on the Exeter energy from waste project.

Power station disputes

Acting on a large number of power station disputes including for a subcontractor in a claim against the main contractor in respect of the construction of a hydroelectric power station, a Local Authority in relation to a dispute arising out of the construction of a waste to energy plant, and a number of contractors on various biomass plants.

Green hydrogen developer

Advised a developer on an innovative hydrogen production and fuel supply project in the UK. 

UK hydrogen developer

Advised a large UK hydrogen developer on its collaboration agreements for undertaking pre and full feasibility studies to produce and utilise green hydrogen to decarbonise a manufacturing facility in northern England.

InfraCo Africa Limited

Advised on the procurement of an EPC contractor for the Western Power Hydro Project in Zambia.

Southeast Asian state energy company 

Advised a Southeast Asian state-owned energy company on the establishment of a hydropower plant in Myanmar.

Tidal energy project

Acting for a main contractor in a relation to a dispute with its sub-contractor arising out of the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a power utility conversion building and associated equipment for a tidal energy project.

Enviroo

Advised a developer on an innovative plastics recycling project that takes plastic waste and creates food grade polymers that are used to recreate food packaging and plastic bottles.

Barakah nuclear power plant

Acting for a joint venture between Hyundai Engineering and Construction and Samsung C&T in its dispute against Korea Electric Power Corporation in relation to the construction of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates. 

Nuclear power station 

Representing the claimant in LCIA arbitration proceedings concerning the production of faulty turbines for a nuclear power station.

Carbon Finance

  • Advising a market leading commodities trader on its South American reforestation projects including advising in connection with the financing and sale and purchase of carbon credits on the voluntary market and the related security arrangements.
  • Advising a global commodities trader on a master sale and purchase agreement relating to Australasian compliance market carbon allowances.    
  • Advising on a multi-million USD facility, with the proceeds to be used under a prepayment agreement with an Australasian forestry company for the purchase of carbon credits, with local security.
